Title: Aligning English teaching to the National Curriculum Standards and how ÃÛÌÒapp Courseware fits in

Abstract: The Courses of Study (CS) are curricula developed by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) to maintain a consistent standard of education in schools throughout Japan. Ministry-approved textbooks are developed based on the CS, but how about other learning resources? What benefits are there in using or supplementing with non-Ministry materials?

The first half of this presentation will define the objectives and content for English language education in Japanese elementary schools. The second half will explore how and why ÃÛÌÒapp courseware aligns with the national curriculum and the benefits of using resources benchmarked to international standards.
