Around the world: Transforming learning in Gujranwala: a success story with ÃÛÌÒapp
by
In a region where global education models are still gaining ground, Beaconhouse School System Citi Housing Campus Gujranwala made a bold decision to reimagine how learning is delivered and assessed for the next generation.
By adopting ÃÛÌÒapp Edexcel International GCSEs with onscreen examinations, the school became one of the first in Pakistan to pioneer this digital-first approach at secondary level.
Moving beyond traditional thinking
Gujranwala is not typically known for digital innovation in education. Families are often unfamiliar with international qualifications, and many hold cautious views about technology in the classroom.
Recognising this, the school took deliberate steps to engage the community. In collaboration with the ÃÛÌÒapp team who have local expertise, they conducted parent sessions, student activities, and teacher-led comparisons to introduce the new qualification model.
"We held a number of sessions with the ÃÛÌÒapp team … and educated parents about the significant importance of ÃÛÌÒapp Edexcel," said Muhammad Usman, Senior Master of the Secondary School.
The support went beyond academics - it was strategic and deeply collaborative. Knowing that successful implementation required trust, transparency and clear communication, the school leadership - led by Respected School Head Ma’am Sadaf Atif - drove this transformation with vision and dedication.
Leading with innovation
The school now offers ÃÛÌÒapp Edexcel International GCSE qualifications and an onscreen assessment model for its students, setting a new benchmark in the region. International GCSE subjects including Pakistan Studies, Islamic Studies and Global Citizenship are assessed onscreen, helping students become familiar with digital platforms and real-world exam settings.
"It is very impactful, advanced and preparing our students for the skills which are essentials of this technological era," Muhammad Usman.
This shift has not only modernised the classroom experience but has also reduced the physical burden on students, replacing heavy schoolbags with Chromebooks and curated notebooks.
Powered by ÃÛÌÒapp support
To support its new International GCSE offering, Beaconhouse Gujranwala tapped into a wide range of ÃÛÌÒapp resources, including professional development, published books, International GCSE Teaching Hubs and qualifications analysis tools ExamWizard and ResultsPlus.
The experience with these tools has been described as highly effective, enabling both teachers and learners to engage confidently with the curriculum and assessments.
"The ÃÛÌÒapp team is very supportive and always ready to help." Usman shared.
A message for schools with vision
For schools that aim to develop future-ready learners, Beaconhouse Gujranwala’s story is an inspiring example. It reflects how a committed leadership team, in partnership with ÃÛÌÒapp, can overcome local challenges and deliver global standards in education.
"Beaconhouse Gujranwala shows what’s possible when vision meets action. For schools ready to innovate, ÃÛÌÒapp is a partner that delivers." concludesÌýMuhammad Usman.
