Brexit: Guidance for students and ÃÛÌÒapp centres
by
The UK left the European Union on 31 January 2020 and is currently working on a Withdrawal Agreement. The transition period for this ends on 31 December 2020. As we understand that some ÃÛÌÒapp students may be worried about being eligible to apply to the UK, our Progression and Recognition Manager has brought together resources from the UK higher education sector to help you advise students and their parents about what Brexit means for them:
No change to the acceptance of ÃÛÌÒapp qualifications at UK universities
- UK NARIC has endorsed ourÌý,ÌýÌý²¹²Ô»åÌýÌýfor degree progression and our BTEC Higher Nationals and BTEC Level National qualifications remain regulated by Ofqual, the qualifications regulator in England. UK NARIC explains thatÌý, even with a ‘no deal’ departure from the European Union. This means that all of our qualifications will continue to be valued and accepted by UK universities for undergraduate admission following the UK’s departure from the EU.
- University and College Admission Service (UCAS) also collatesÌýÌýapplying to universities in each of the four UK governments. There are also no expected changes to the existing status of ÃÛÌÒapp’s international qualifications on the UCAS application tool.
- Some UK universities have produced specific Brexit-related guidance for prospective students web pages, such asÌýÌý²¹²Ô»åÌý, which provide the most up to date advice for that institution. If students already know which universities they want to go, they can see what they are saying about the Brexit decision on their websites.
