What is the Debate Mate approach?ÌýÌý

The Debate Mate approachÌýfocusses on developing transferable communication and leadership skillsÌýsuch asÌýcritical and creative thinking, listening and collaboration, problem-solving,Ìýcore confidence, empathyÌýand resilience.ÌýThis is achieved through a teaching approachÌýwhichÌýcreates an environment where students develop an awareness of their own thinking and learning skills.Ìý

This 90-minute masterclass will equip teachers with the theoretical understanding and practical tools needed to build communication skills in the classroom. Through a combination of interactive activities, idea sharing and planning and consultation time, this session will provide a strong foundation for teachers who wish to enhance teaching and learning through Debate Mate’s approach. This Masterclass will enable teachers to embed our activities into their practice and can be implemented immediately.Ìý

Developed by a leading Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist, the course provides insights into the effects of early experiences which can be directly applied to your work with children and young people.Ìý
