GCSE History student entries have never been higher, and it’s clear that it’s a popular choice for learners.Ìý

We believe many parts of the History GCSE work well. Teachers have told us that the ÃÛÌÒapp Edexcel GCSE in particular provides a coherent and well-designed course of study and prepares students effectively for their A levels. We have also made recent changes to our assessment model to improve the student experience.

However, it is also clear from our research and the many conversations we've had with History teachers and organisations, that a review of the GCSE History subject content requirements is needed.
